Gathering Production Data with Smart Counters

Smart Counter Smart Counters were designed to obtain production data from manufacturing machines under tough factory conditions and to transfer them to the center using Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection by using IoT technology.

They are Doruk Automation’s in-house products.

They don’t include a user interface as opposed to KeyPDTs. They are used with an Industrial PC interface.

Smart Counters continue to collect data even if the central connection line gets severed and send the collected data to the center automatically when a connection is established.


Advantages of gathering data with Smart Counter are as follows:
  • With either Ethernet or a Wi-Fi line, devices in a factory are able to connect to the center wirelessly or through Ethernet without the necessity to establish a RS485 data gathering network.
  • Data, such as the number of production, meters and weight, can be automatically gathered in an absolutely loss-free and appropriate way via the application of different motion combinations, signal filters and flows and can instantly be transferred to the center.
  • Stoppage durations are collected automatically.
  • The device’s digital outputs can be activated by various notices and status information can locally be shared with the peripherals through the actuators connected to these digital outputs.
  • Thanks to its data collection structure that was uniformly set up independent of the machinery’s brand and models in the production area, the opportunity to gather production data from all kinds of machines in the same way is provided.
  • Offline Functioning
    Included. In cases that cables are severed, servers are down, network connection is lost and etc. it can hold data (10,000 data) for as long as a week on average within its memory and can send past data to the system when it becomes online again.

  • DIN Rail Montage

    Smart Counter is suitable for DIN rail montage. In cases that the Smart Counter is mounted on the rail inside a board, it is suggested for the antenna to be taken outside the board if Wi-Fi communication will be used.

  • Surface Montage

    Dock station accessory is used for the Smart Counter to be mounted on a flat surface. The board can be mounted on places like on top of a machine this way. The passage of cables can be ensured via opening a hole on the surface underneath the Smart Counter. It’s important that the warning LEDs on Smart Counters are visible. Thus, emphasis must be placed on the angle of LEDs when positioning is made.

  • Industrial PC

    Since the Industrial PCs need to be used by machine operators, they need to be situated in the spots that operators spend most of their time at. While an Industrial PC can be used for a single machine, a common Industrial PC can also be used for multiple machines. Using the touch-operated Industrial PC at times that the operators will enter inputs to the computer with greasy hands while wearing or not wearing gloves can create disadvantages. Using a mouse and a keyboard in these types of factories would be more productive.
